How I Can Help
Separation Advice
If you are contemplating separating from your partner or have done so recently, you will have many practical and legal questions which cover a range of family law areas.
Parenting Arrangements
I can help you to resolve disputes about care arrangements for your children immediately after separation or later, if they arise.
Relationship Property
I can help you to resolve how to divide your relationship property after you have separated.
Prenuptual Agreements
Many couples agree they do not want the ordinary rules in the Property (Relationships) Act 1976 to apply to them if they separate.
Other Services
I also provide advice and advocacy in the following areas, Family violence/Protection Orders, Spousal maintenance, Child support, Divorce/Dissolution and more
Fees
Like most lawyers, I charge based on the time it takes to get work done. I can give you an estimate of the fee by telephone or when we meet.
About Me
I provide advice to, and advocacy for, people at a difficult time, family breakdown and crisis. The people I see are upset, uncertain of the future and unsure of their legal rights and entitlements. Often, they have never met with a lawyer before.
With this in mind, my goal is for you to have an understanding of the law as it may apply you and the processes available to resolve your situation after our initial meeting. Thereafter I will work with you to achieve your desired outcome.
If your matter requires urgent Court intervention, I will assist. If I represent you in Court your case, written and oral, will be well thought-out, researched and presented. I am a strong and articulate advocate for my clients.
I graduated from Victoria University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Law with Honours. I have worked for the Principal Family Court Judge as his Research Counsel, in private practice in Wellington and in child protection for two local authorities in London. I took a break from practice for several years when I had small children. In 2012 my family and I relocated to the Kapiti Coast where I worked for a local firm specialising in family law advice and litigation. In April 2018, I established my own practice.
I am professional, direct and kind. I live locally, I am engaged with my community and care for the people within it.
